⚙️LinkedIn Signals to Email Outreach
A step-by-step guide to automate signal powered campaigns

Hey, GTM Engineers!
GTM Engineering is on 🔥
It’s incredible to see 700+ new subscribers GTM Leaders & Engineers every month . Claymation serves 2 purposes: 1) to teach 2) to test growth experiments to grow the newsletter faster and share what’s working.
More GTM Engineering newsletters are popping up, too.
Several just launched over the last couple weeks that I’m excited about
{Engineering Revenue} — by Ashley Artrip, GTM Engineer at Clay
The GTM Cookbook — by Patrick Spychalski, Co-Founder of The Kiln
The GTM Guys — by Chris Viglietta, GTM Engineer at Clay
Check em out.
Another cool thing I discovered this week… how to run AI on your laptop for free (even without internet) 👇
Now for for this weeks guide…
🎯 The Objective
Drive newsletter subscribers.
Find signals on LinkedIn and automate reaching out to those people with a call to action.
An example: I want to find people on LinkedIn who made a post about AI in Sales. Then categorize that post and send email outreach to provide an offer + introduce The Augmented Seller. This is my other newsletter on, you guessed it, how to use AI to save time and get your sanity back in sales.
Automate all of this and have it run in the background.
⁉️ Why?
Pipe generation is changing.
Teams need to catch people when they are actively thinking about the topic at hand so you can send the right message and call to action.
We’ve always aimed to do this.
It’s just been excruciatingly painful and manual to do right.
But the benefit is massive - If you engage with warm leads thoughtfully, you can increase your reply rate 3-4x.

Waterfall enrichment kicks off to find that person’s work email
Multiple variants of an email are created to match with the categorization
Email is sent to Smartlead

1. What is Letterdrop?
👉 AI GTM tool that helps you reach your warmest leads - those posting & engaging on LinkedIn.
They make it damn easy to do this in 2 different ways:
Set up keywords for your personas & accounts
Letterdrop watches for posts/activity that include those topics
Letterdrop auto creates a list of those people/accounts
Then helps you reach out at that time to connect
Personal Audience + Brand Building
Connect Letterdrop to Gong
Open LinkedIn to create a post
Timer starts, you have 5 minutes… but you really only need 2
Select a call that had some good insights
Letterdrop crafts a LinkedIn post for you with that content
Boom. In under 2 minutes you can share a post that has a good hook, insights to attract your ICP, and written for readability & to pique curiosity.
Gain more followers. Share more insights more frequently. Go from stranger to known before you outreach. Build trust. Increase your chances of starting conversations.
2. Setting up a filter
First - figure out what signals you want to capture:
ICP activity alerts?
Post (with keyword/topic) alerts?
Named account activity alerts?
For this workflow, I’m going to look for posts and anyone who is talking about AI in sales. Log into Letterdrop > Go to Leads > Keyword Monitoring > Save

3. Clay: Setup a ‘Monitor Webhook’ table in Clay
Create new Table and choose Monitor Webhook.
Then copy the webhook URL. We’ll provide this to Letterdrop so it knows where to send the data.

You’ll then start to see leads and their posts start to populate below. This is what we’ll send to Clay for further analysis, enrichment, and personalization.
4. Sending Data from Letterdrop to Clay via API
Take the copied API url from the last post to input into the webhook endpoint in Letterdrop:

5. Clay Table Workflow & Automations
This could be an entire post itself on how to setup this Clay table, so going to show you in 4 mins with a video walkthrough:
