Today’s post is to help you use 3 alternative techniques to find more people when the traditional routes fall short.
These are:
Negative Searches
LinkedIn Navigator Searches
Waterfall with Claygent + Google Search
Let’s dive in, shall we?
Negative Searches
Finding the right people is not always easy. Why couldn’t I find more people from my persona search?
I recently had this challenge when searching for CEOs to contact. My initial approach was the following:
Yash, one of the original GTM Engineers at Clay, introduced me to the Negative Search approach. Instead of searching for people who match your keywords, you take the opposite approach - eliminate people to narrow the list.
How clever is that?
Take it for a spin on your next search.
People Searches from Sales Navigator
Customers always ask, can Clay replace our Linkedin Sales Navigator contract?
Technically yes, but you don’t want to start a riot.
However, they do work well together and it’s another way to improve your people search. This is how:
Create a lead search in Sales Navigator & plug in all of your criteria
Copy the URL of that page
Go to create new table
Choose the following option and plug your link in
Waterfall Approach with Claygent + Google
Of the 3 approaches in today’s newsletter, this one is the hardest. It may take some attempts, and could be frustrating, but you can always reach out: [email protected].
Despite using multiple databases, sometimes LinkedIn profile URLs just can’t be found when you’re doing a people search from a company table:
This is when I turn turn to building a waterfall with Claygent + a Google Search enrichment. These are the steps.
Prompt Claygent to search the web for the person’s Linkedin Profile (from the Company Table).
You’ll receive results from #1, but some might be “Not Found”
For those “Not Found”, add the Google Search enrichment and set a conditional to run when that is true.
Then use a Merge column that takes the results from Google Search and then the results from the Claygent Search. You’ll now have a larger set of Linkedin Profiles that you can combine with the search results from your traditional people search.
